The Business of Black Hair demands the attention of Black people. As the only consumers of the products, we should own and control every aspect of the business. This includes production, distribution, manufacturing, marketing, promotions, entertainment, technology, social media, digital media and any new and creative ways we can devise to leverage and bring forth new solutions for our community on a global basis.
In the U.S. this is an industry founded by African-American women. In fact Madame CJ Walker, the first woman millionaire of any race was created from within this industry.It is our duty and responsibility to honor their entrepreneurial spirit, to distinguish ourselves by demanding and demonstrating ownership in this arena. We can do it! We must. Whether it’s natural, chemically treated, wigs, weaves, extended, permed, dyed, fried, or laid to the side, it’s OUR hair. Together Continental Africans, African American, Blacks and Negroes can win in this industry if we operate strategically. It won’t be easy but it will be rewarding.
