Did you know that Mary T. Washington Wylie was a member of Sigma Gamma Rho? Wylie was a proud member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
Washington gained experience at Douglas National Bank while she was in college. After graduation, she went to work at Binga State Bank, one of Chicago’s leading black-owned businesses in the 1920s.
Mary T. Washington & Co., an accounting and tax company, was founded in 1939. Washington set up Washington & Pittman in 1968, working with one of her pupils. In 1976, Washington, Pittman, and McKeever established Washington, Pittman, and McKeever, LLC, where she trained a new generation of black accountants. She was an active member of Chicago’s black women’s clubs and programs through her accounting job.
